Marriage wall to 2nd bedroom

Outside wall

Bedroom wall (will be moved)

Front door (replaced with 3-0)

Demolition

Removed the drywall.
- Notice that the studs are 24" on center
- One stud is 1x3 and the other is 2x3, makes a weak wall
- We will add a 2x3 to the 1x3 and between each stud

- Exterior wall is 2x4  16"o.c.
- R11 Insulation in the wall

Marriage wall with kitchen was built earlier and used
2x6 16"o.c. with R11 insulation to deaden sound

Pulled the remainder of carpet up and you will notice the dirt under the carpet.

The 2x3 studs on walls are full of staples and tacks that held drywall and batten strips on the wall.  All of these have to be removed to install new drywall.

This is what the interior walls look like on the inside before we work on them.

This what they look like after we work on them.

The interior wall had 1x3's in them and I re-enforced them with another 1x3 screwed to the existing one.

I spent most of the afternoon pulling staples.

This is what we pulled out of the exterior wall and floor.

Amy patched the holes in Bath 2

We finished framing the new wall and installed the pocket door.

03/30/2019

We removed the front door and pulled more staples.

We had the new door in by Lunchtime. Thanks, Dominion Hardware

I re-wired the light and fans at the front door, this took all afternoon. We have a smart switch on the porch light and the outdoor fan and indoor fan have their own switch now. The nice thing is they are all in one box and not two different ones.

The receptacle that will be above the Corner Cupboard that we inherited from Aunt Lousie. This will power the 8' track light as well as anything on top of the cabinet.

Two outdoor receptacles on the front porch.

This is where the power line comes through the floor. Located under thermostat in corner of LR and 2nd BR.

Soundproof insulation R15 in the outside wall.

Box for Cable and Internet in Kitchen.

This circuit is run along the top of the wall to connect to the circuit on the exterior wall.

Wiring under the window (and beside the door) for the exterior receptacles.

EASTER WEEKEND 2019

We used the blow-in
insulation to fill the attic space.

We went to Lowes early Monday morning and picked up our drywall for the Living Room. After bringing it into the house, we had to leave for Altavista to visit a bereaved friend.

When we got back from Altavista, we started hanging the drywall.
The big wall in the middle of the house was the hardest to install.

The Rotozip made the windows easy.

It was getting late when we got to the last wall.

This is the wiring for our old Thermostat.

This is our new Nest Thermostat.

More Mud

10/19/2019

With the kitchen finished it was time to finish the living room. More mud and sanding the first day and then on to paint the second. It is really starting to come together.
This shows the kitchen entryway that we put a drop cloth over to keep the dust down in the rest of the house. The accent wall is where the new gas logs and mantle will go.

Our new front door that was installed earlier this year.

Our bedroom door and the windows out to the front porch.
